For a UK student visa, you must show funds for your first year’s tuition (as listed on your CAS) plus living expenses: £1,334/month (up to £12,006) if outside London, or £1,652/month (up to £14,388) if in London. These funds must be in your bank account for at least 28 consecutive days before you apply.

For an Ireland student visa, you need to pay at least €6,000 of tuition upfront and show access to €10,000 for living expenses for one academic year, also held for a set period.

Key difference: the UK requires higher living expenses (especially for London) and calculates them monthly, while Ireland uses a flat €10,000 amount for the year. Both require proof of funds held continuously before application.
