You’ll need these key documents for a German student visa:

- Visa application form (VIDEX), filled and signed
- Valid passport (at least 12 months beyond your stay, 2 blank pages)
- 2 biometric passport photos
- University admission letter from a recognized German institution
- Academic certificates and transcripts (certified, translated to German or English)
- Language proficiency proof (IELTS/TOEFL/TestDaF/DSH, as required by your program)
- CV (curriculum vitae)
- Motivation letter explaining your goals
- Proof of financial means (blocked account with approx. €11,904 for the first year)
- Health insurance valid in Germany
- APS Certificate (mandatory for Indian applicants)

Other countries have similar requirements but with differences:
- US: SEVIS I-901 fee receipt needed before interview
- UK: CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) reference number required
- Canada: Proof of funds (bank statements or financial support letter)
- Australia: Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) from a registered provider
