What are the English language test requirements for Germany and other European countries in Netherlands/Spain?
English language test requirements for Germany and other European countries depend on the country, university, and program.
Germany (English-taught programs):
- IELTS Academic: 6.0 - 6.5 for Bachelor’s, 6.5 for Master’s
- TOEFL iBT: 80 - 92
- Cambridge English: C1 Advanced (CAE) or C2 Proficiency (CPE)
- PTE Academic: Generally accepted, but requirements vary
Some universities may waive these if your previous degree was taught entirely in English. For German-taught programs, German proficiency is required.
Other European countries:
- Netherlands: IELTS 6.5 (no band below 6.0), TOEFL iBT 90 - 94, Cambridge C1/C2, PTE 66+
- Sweden: IELTS 6.5 - 7.0, TOEFL iBT 90 - 100, Cambridge C1/C2
- Spain: IELTS 6.0 - 6.5, TOEFL iBT 80 - 90, Cambridge C1/C2
