Most German universities require an IELTS Academic score of at least 6.5 overall, with no band below 6.0, for English-taught master's programs. Some competitive courses may ask for 7.0 or higher.
Since you haven't started IELTS preparation yet, it's best to begin early - ideally 6 to 12 months before your test date. This gives you enough time to get comfortable with the exam format and improve your skills in all sections.
