Yes, completing a graduate diploma in New Zealand can lead to job opportunities, especially with upcoming changes to the Post Study Work Visa (PSWV) rules.

From November 16, 2026, graduates with an NZQCF Level 7 graduate diploma and a bachelor's degree (from New Zealand or overseas) will be eligible for a PSWV. This visa lets you work in New Zealand for up to one year after your graduate diploma, giving you time to gain experience and seek employment.

A new Short-term Graduate Work Visa will also launch on November 16, 2026, offering up to six months of open work rights to eligible graduates.

Visa rules and eligibility are subject to change.
