Is there a specific duration I can stay in the country on a study or post-study visa in Germany?

In Germany, your student residence permit is typically valid for up to two years, matching the usual length of most degree programs. If your course lasts longer, you can apply to extend it by showing progress toward your degree.

After graduation, you may qualify for a post-study residence permit (Job Seeker Visa), which lets you stay in Germany for up to 18 months to find a job related to your studies. Once you find relevant employment, you can switch to a work residence permit or an EU Blue Card to continue living and working in Germany.

Visa rules and durations are subject to change.
