Is part-time work available for international students during their studies abroad in Ireland/New Zealand?
Yes, international students can work part-time during their studies in both Ireland and New Zealand, with specific rules in each country.
- Ireland: You can work up to 20 hours/week during term and up to 40 hours/week during holidays if you have a valid Stamp 2 visa and are enrolled in a full-time, visa-eligible course.
- New Zealand: From November 3, 2025, you can work up to 25 hours/week during term and full-time during scheduled breaks if you hold a valid student visa and are enrolled in an eligible full-time course.
These work rights are subject to change. Part-time work can support living costs but may not cover all expenses. For guidance on maximizing your study and work options, connect with your LeapScholar counsellor.
