Is NTU engineering really as competitive for Indian students as Reddit and Quora make it seem?
The mentor said engineering is genuinely competitive at NTU because it is one of the most sought-after courses and a large number of Indian students apply for it. However, she said it is not impossible to get in, and the narrative that it is nearly impossible for Indians is not accurate. When she researched Singapore universities from India, she assumed it was mostly Singaporeans, Chinese, and Malaysians. After living in Singapore, she saw a large number of Indians at both NUS and NTU.
• NTU has a quota system for international students, so competition is within that international pool, not against all applicants globally.
• The mentor's advice: do not self-reject before the university rejects you.
• Apply with your full genuine profile, add everything available to the application, including Trinity music merit certificates and any academic or competition achievements.
• Grades are the primary factor for NTU's engineering admissions. Apply early, apply honestly, and let the university make the decision.
