Yes, you can switch from a STEM course to a non-STEM course as an F-1 student in the U.S.

However, this change affects your visa benefits:
- STEM OPT Extension: You will lose eligibility for the 24-month STEM OPT (post-study work visa) extension if you move to a non-STEM major.
- Standard OPT: You remain eligible for the standard 12 months of OPT, as long as your job relates to your new field of study.

You must notify your Designated School Official (DSO) and update your Form I-20 to reflect your new major.
