Is it better to take a job offer in Australia or New Zealand for teaching after completing my degree?

New Zealand generally offers a more direct pathway to permanent residency for teachers compared to Australia.

- New Zealand: Primary and secondary teachers are on the Green List, allowing you to apply for a Straight to Residence Visa as soon as you secure a job offer. This means you can become a resident much faster. Early childhood teachers have a Work to Residence pathway, typically requiring two years of work before applying for residency.
- Australia: The process is more complex. Most new teachers start with temporary or casual roles, and permanent positions can take time to secure. Permanent residency options exist (like skilled migration or employer-sponsored visas), but they are points-based and may require more steps.

Both countries require you to have your qualifications assessed and obtain teacher registration. If your main goal is a clear and faster route to residency, New Zealand is usually the better choice.
