No, you do not need an initial investment of twelve lakhs to get a student visa for Germany.

Currently, you must show proof of funds by depositing €11,904 (about ₹11.2 lakh) into a blocked account (Sperrkonto) to cover one year of living expenses. This amount is released to you monthly after you arrive in Germany.

The required amount is subject to change each year. You will also need valid health insurance for your visa application.
