If I get a scholarship between 60 to 100 percent, do I still need a blocked account for Germany?

It depends. If your scholarship provides at least €992/month (current requirement for 2026) from a recognized source, you may not need a blocked account for your German student visa.

- €992/month minimum: Your scholarship must cover at least this amount.
- Recognized scholarship: Only official, recognized scholarships are accepted.
- Embassy discretion: The German embassy or consulate makes the final decision on accepting your scholarship as proof of funds.

If your scholarship meets these criteria, you can usually submit the official award letter instead of a blocked account. For confirmation on your specific case, please consult your LeapScholar counsellor.
