How much money should I set aside for my Australia student visa, including OSHC and the medical exam?
For the Australia student visa process, a rough estimate is AUD 3,200 to AUD 3,800 in total. That brings together the visa fee, which alone starts at AUD 2,500, OSHC and the health examination, which is charged separately. Actual charges can change and depend on your course and provider.
As a rough estimate, plan for about AUD 3,200 to 3,800 (approx INR 2.14 to 2.54 L) for the Australia student visa process on its own. That rough total covers the visa fee (which alone starts at AUD 2,500, approx INR 1.67 L), your OSHC and the medical exam, which is charged separately, and it does not include tuition or living costs.
Visa process budget
| Item | Planning figure |
|---|---|
| Visa fee, OSHC and medical costs combined | Rough estimate: 3,200 to 3,800 (approx INR 2.14 to 2.54 L) |
| Visa type | Subclass 500 student visa |
| Not included | Tuition and living costs |
How the process runs
- Accept your offer, pay the deposit and wait for your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE).
- Create an ImmiAccount and start a new Subclass 500 application, then upload the CoE.
- Buy OSHC and complete the health exam once your HAP ID appears in ImmiAccount.
- Upload English scores, academic records and financial documents, pay the fees and submit. You will receive a Transaction Reference Number.
My Advice
Keep a small cushion above the top of the range, because the final amount depends on your course and the fees in force when you apply. Check the Department of Home Affairs website for the current visa charge before you pay.
