Yes, the accommodation deposit in Germany is separate from the blocked account funds.

- Accommodation deposit: Usually 1 - 3 months' rent, paid directly to your landlord or student dormitory. This is refundable at the end of your stay if there is no damage.
- Blocked account deposit: €11,904 (subject to change), required for your student visa and covers your living expenses. This is held in a special account and released to you monthly after arrival.

You must arrange both amounts separately: one for your visa (blocked account) and one for your housing (accommodation deposit).
