How does the work visa process work after completing masters in the UK for a Master's?
After completing your Master's in the UK, you can apply for the Graduate Visa (post-study work visa), which currently allows you to stay and work in the UK for 2 years after graduation. This will reduce to 18 months for Master's graduates starting 1 Jan 2027 (subject to change).
Key points:
- Eligibility: Complete an eligible UK Master's, hold a valid Student visa, and apply before your visa expires.
- Application: Apply online from within the UK. Pay the application fee and Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS, subject to change).
- Work rights: You can work at any skill level, including self-employment, but not as a professional sportsperson or coach.
- Limitations: This visa is not extendable and does not lead directly to UK settlement.
After the Graduate Visa, you may switch to a Skilled Worker Visa if you secure a qualifying job with a licensed UK employer.
