How does the loan sanction letter work for visa purposes, and can I apply for a loan letter just for the visa without taking the loan in UK?

For your UK student visa, a loan sanction letter is accepted as proof of funds if it is from a government-backed or regulated financial institution and shows:

- Your name
- The approved loan amount
- The loan is specifically for your studies
- Funds will be available before you travel
- The letter is dated within six months of your visa application
- No conditions on releasing the funds except visa approval

You cannot use a loan letter just for the visa if the loan is not genuinely approved and available. The letter must show a real, fully sanctioned loan you can access for your studies.
