You typically need at least B2 level German proficiency for admission to programs taught in German. Some universities may require a higher level, such as C1. Accepted certificates include TestDaF (minimum TDN 4), DSH-2, Goethe-Zertifikat C1, or telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule.

If your program is taught entirely in English, German proficiency is usually not required for admission, though basic skills are helpful for daily life.
