Do I need IELTS, TOEFL, SAT or GRE scores to apply to a Malaysian university as an Indian student?

Most Malaysian universities typically do not ask for SAT or GRE scores. English tests like IELTS or TOEFL may still be requested if you come from a non-English-speaking country.
Test Score Requirements at a Glance
| Test | Typical position |
|---|---|
| IELTS or TOEFL | May be needed if you are from a non-English-speaking country |
| SAT | Most Malaysian universities do not require it |
| GRE | Most Malaysian universities do not require it |
Other Basic Requirements
- Bachelor's applicants typically need UEC with 75%, an STPM pass or a Matriculation or Polytechnic Certificate.
- Master's applicants need a relevant bachelor's degree, and sometimes work experience.
- PhD applicants need a related master's degree or a bachelor's with an excellent CGPA (3.70+).
My Advice
Ask your shortlisted universities in writing whether they will accept proof of English instead of a test score. Requirements vary, so check each official admissions page before booking any exam.
