Can you tell me more about studying in Japan, including course duration and band score requirements for a Master's?
Master’s programs in Japan typically last 2 years and require completion of at least 30 credits, including coursework and a master’s thesis.
For English-taught programs, most universities require proof of English proficiency:
- IELTS: Overall band score of 6.0 - 6.5 is common
- TOEFL iBT: Score of 80 - 90 is generally expected
Requirements can vary by university and program. Some may also accept TOEIC scores. For programs taught in Japanese, JLPT N2 proficiency is usually required.
Application deadlines and policies are subject to change by university.
