Can a Medium of Instruction (MOI) Certificate Waive the IELTS Requirement in the USA?
13 May 2026 · Answered by Mohit Tanna · 1 min read
In the USA, only a few universities consider a Medium of Instruction (MOI) certificate as a substitute for IELTS or TOEFL. Most universities still prefer or require a standardized English language test.
While you may find some institutions that accept MOI, it is not very common, and relying only on MOI can significantly limit your options. To keep a wider range of universities available, it is generally better to take IELTS or TOEFL.
