Yes, you can study in the U.S. on an L-2 visa without needing a separate student visa.

You are allowed to enroll in full-time or part-time studies at any educational level while on an L-2 visa. However, your ability to stay and study in the U.S. depends on the status of the primary L-1 visa holder - if their status changes, yours may be affected.

L-2 visa holders do not have the same post-study work options (like OPT) as student (F-1) visa holders. If you plan to work after your studies, you may need to change your visa status.
