Can I collect my passport in person from the German consulate or VFS even if I originally chose courier delivery?
You generally cannot switch to in person pickup once you choose courier delivery, since VFS automates the return process. Exceptions exist only if your visa is refused, your courier shipment gets stuck at the local hub, or your long term visa needs in person passport stamping before release.
You cannot simply change your mind and collect your passport in person after paying for courier delivery at VFS. Once you submit your application, the return process is automated, and the consulate does not allow walk in pickups under standard procedure. A few narrow exceptions can still apply to your case.
