It depends on the country and your course.
- UK: As of January 2024, you can bring dependants only if you are studying a PhD, other doctoral qualification, or a full-time postgraduate research degree (9+ months), or are fully government-sponsored for a full-time course (6+ months). For most taught master’s degrees, dependants are no longer allowed.
- New Zealand: You may bring your partner if you are studying a master’s (level 9) or doctoral (level 10) degree. Dependent children are allowed if you are studying a PhD or on a government-approved student exchange.
