Yes, after completing a 5-year MBBS abroad, your son can return to India to take the licensing exam, as long as he meets the National Medical Commission (NMC) requirements.
He must:
- Graduate from an NMC-recognized foreign medical university listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools.
- Complete a 12-month compulsory internship (either abroad or in India at an NMC-recognized hospital).
- Pass the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) or, from 2027, the National Exit Test (NExT).
After passing the exam, he can register with the NMC and apply to the State Medical Council to practice in India. These requirements are subject to change as per NMC regulations.
