The full form of XAT is Xavier Aptitude Test. XLRI (Xavier School of Management), Jamshedpur, administers a national-level management entrance test for admission to management programmes at XLRI and 148 other participating XAT institutes across the country. To choose the best-qualified candidates for management education, the XLRI has been administering entrance exams in India for more than 60 years. About 90,000 individuals take the XAT exam each year. Additionally, the exam is given online.

- An MBA or PGDM admission test known as XAT is required for enrollment at XLRI and 150 other prestigious MBA schools in India, including IMT Ghaziabad, SPJIMR Mumbai, TAPMI Manipal, and XIMB Bhubaneswar.
- In any discipline, one must obtain a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or board.
- At least three years should pass before graduation.
- One may also apply for the test if they are a graduating senior.
- XLRI has not advised an age restriction for registering for the exam in accordance with the XAT qualifying requirements.
Exam format for the XAT
The XAT exam is divided into four sections with multiple-choice questions each, and it lasts 180 minutes.
- Verbal (VR) and Logical Reasoning(LR),
- Decision Making (DM)
- Data Interpretation(DI) and Quantitative Ability (QA)
- General Knowledge (GK)
Each component has no time restriction, although applicants will not be allowed to use the on-screen calculator.

Testing procedure for the XAT
- One mark is assigned to each question. Each accurate response receives one point, and each incorrect response receives 0.25 points less.
- Unattended queries that total more than eight will also result in 0.05 scores of negative scoring for each query.
