What is the full form of RAW?

The full form of RAW is the Research and Analysis Wing. The primary foreign intelligence agency of India is RAW. The RAW agency was established following the Indo-China War in 1962 and the Indo-Pak War in 1965. Rameshwar Nath Kao oversaw the formation of RAW, which has its headquarters in New Delhi, India. He was the first Director of RAW.

The failure of India’s intelligence committee in the wars with Pakistan and China was the main impetus for the development of RAW. Samant Kumar Goel, an IPS officer from the 1984 class and the new director of the RAW agency, was chosen on June 26, 2019. The RAW agency’s former Director was named Anil Dhasmana.

• The main reason for the creation of RAW was the Intelligence office’s poor performance in the wars with China in 1962 and Pakistan in 1965.
• Rameshwar Nath Kao served as the project manager when RAW was created in September 1968.
• RAW began as a division of the Chief Intelligence Service with 250 employees and a $20 million yearly budget.
• In the early 1970s, RAW’s yearly budget had increased to almost $300 million, employing thousands of people.
• The Aviation Research Center (ARC) was established in 1971 thanks to Kao’s influence over the government.
• RAW was first introduced to the Radio Research Center and the Electronics & Technology facilities in 1970 and 1990, respectively.
• Up till this point, the Indian government has reinforced NTRO with another signal intelligence service known as the National Technical Facilities Organization (NTFO) in 2004.
• The Joint Intelligence Committee reports to the Cabinet Secretariat and coordinates, assesses, and analyses intelligence efforts among RAW, the Intelligence Bureau(IB), and the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA).
