The goal of establishing a pre-medical test was to open up medical education to everyone based on their IQ, regardless of their nationality, state of residence, religion, caste, colour, or creed. Pre-medical exams were created as a result of the government’s ability to provide a platform for those individuals who desired a career in medicine. Pre-Medical Exams are administered both nationally and on a state-by-state basis.

Itinerary

  • For UG and PG admissions to government and private colleges in 2012, the medical and dental council of India held the NEET examination. However, there were several factors why this exam was postponed.
  • In 2013, the Supreme Court ruled in favour of 115 petitions and ruled that no private colleges should conduct their UG and PG entrance exams based on the NEET.
  • NEET PHASE 1 Exam was conducted in 2016 after Supreme Court hearings. Later, the SC also consented to hold NEET PHASE 2 Exam for those who did not show up for NEET PHASE 1. As a result, AIPMT gave such candidates PHASE 2 consideration. The supreme court cleared up all the misunderstandings and petitions made by the state government and minority institutions to organise a separate exam for MBBS and BDS because the examination was swamped with applicants.
  • Finally, the Delhi government ensured that only NEET will be accepted as a platform for examinations for admissions to medical colleges on May 23, 2016. A presidential order to hold the common medical entrance exam for a year was signed on May 24th, 2016.

Pre-Medical Examination Pattern

  • AIPMT was held in two stages earlier in 2010: AIPMT prelims and AIPMT mains. The AIPMT prelims test was objective, whereas the main test was subjective. The only candidates who were qualified to take the AIPMT main exam were those who passed the prelim exam. After passing the AIPMT mains, the candidates received ranks that they utilised to gain admission to medical and dental schools solely on the basis of merit. A single NEET examination has taken the place of this previous two-stage testing procedure.
  • A single paper with 180 objective-type questions for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, broken down into 45 questions for each topic, makes up the exam format as it is right now. The exam would last three hours. There are Hindi and English language options on the test. Both languages are acceptable for the candidate to use when taking the test.
  • The candidate receives 4 marks for each correct response, and 1 mark is subtracted from their score for each incorrect response. If the contestant doesn’t attempt any questions, no points are taken away.
