What is the full form of MPEG?

The full form of MPEG is Moving Picture Experts Group. MPEG is a task group within an organisation that develops guidelines for transmitting and encoding video or audio. Builds up MPEG-recognized video and audio file formats. The group comprises the IEC and the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) (International Electrotechnical Commission).

In January 1988, Leonardo Chiariglione and Hiroshi Yasuda founded MPEG. In May 1988, the inaugural conference was planned for Ottawa, Canada. Here is a list of a few of the involved MPEG published versions.
