A brief history of KVB

  • Mr M. A. Venkatarama Chettiar and Mr Athi Krishna Chettiar established the KVB on July 25, 1917, to enhance the already underdeveloped trade and agricultural sectors in and around the Tamil Nadu town of Karur.
  • The bank started off with roughly Rs. 1 lakh in initial funds. As the bank and other banks developed, so did the services offered.
  • The bank is governed and managed by a board of directors, who are recruited from a variety of professions.
  • In order to establish a pan-Indian presence and after realising there was more money in the world, the bank built approximately 668 subsidiaries outside of Karur in various states and union territories.
  • Shri K.K. Balu was appointed as the Bank’s Additional Director on January 27, 2012.
