What is the full form of ISI?

The full form of ISI is Indian Standards Institute. To maintain industrial production efficiency and set standards for the orderly evolution of the industries, ISI was formed. It provides an ISI mark, a certification mark for industrial goods in India. As of now, it is the certification mark that is most widely used and recognised throughout the Indian subcontinent.

  • Dr Lal C. Verman became the first ISI Director in June 1947, a month after the ISI was established on January 6th, 1947.
  • The Indian Standards Institute (ISI) once operated as the BIS. It establishes the benchmark for quality in both consumer and business items. It certifies the standards and quality of every product and awards it a certification mark.
  • A 1986 law gives BIS permission to offer certification.
  • The ISI label is required for goods that must be certified before being sold in India. 
  • Any manufacturing business demonstrating that its product or service satisfies the BIS requirements is eligible for ISI certification.

Features of fake ISI mark

There are several fake ISI-labelled items available on the market. They use ISI labels on the product without certifying it. So, selecting goods should be very careful. There are other characteristics of fake ISI labels, such as the ISI mark not having the compulsory seven-digit license number. At the top of the ISI, the label is an IS number that denotes the number of the Indian standard for the specific product.

Second full form of ISI

Another full-form ISI is Indian Statistical Institute. ISI is a private college situated in Kolkata, West Bengal. Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, and Tezpur it has other branches. It was established in Kolkata by Professor P.C. Mahalanobis on December 17 1931. ISI gained the status of an Institution of National Importance by Parliament’s act of 1959.

Pakistan’s top intelligence organisation is in charge of maintaining national security and intelligence analysis. Faiz Hameed has served as the ISI’s director-general since June 17.

History of ISI

  • Following independence, Pakistan’s IB (Intelligence Bureau) and MI intelligence organisations were created (Military Intelligence).
  • After the underwhelming outcomes of these two organisations, ISI was set up in 1948 to gather intelligence and share it across the armed services of the navy, army, and air force.
  • The responsibility for protecting Pakistan and the nation’s security inside and outside of its borders was officially given to ISI in 1950.
