IMA’s history in a nutshell
- In 1932, IMA’s was established.
- The first group of IMA trainees included 40 Cadets of Gentlemen. The “PIONEERS” were those cadets.
- Brigadier L.P. Collins served as the IMA’s first commander. In IMA, a trainee applicant is known as a gentlemen cadet.
- Near the slopes of the Himalayas, on National Highway 72, some 8 kilometres west of Dehradun, Uttarakhand, is where IMA is located.
- The academy occupies over 1400 acres of land.
- Only male applicants receive training that makes them army officers.
- In addition to preparing candidates for combat, the academy also provides the physical resources and infrastructure needed to train future military commanders.

Second full form of IMA
Another full form of IMA is Indian Medical Association. IMA is an international, non-profit organisation of doctors of advanced medicine with its headquarters in India. A group of doctors who are registered under India’s Societies Act. The demands of the community’s welfare, as well as the needs of physicians, are the IMA’s two most important responsibilities. From 2019–2020, Dr Anil Jain served as the organization’s national president.
