What is the full form of ICSE?

The full form of ICSE is the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education. The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) administers the ICSE, an annual test for students in Class 10. India’s private ICSE board of education was established in accordance with the New Education Policy of 1986. To raise the standard of general education in India, the board of education was established.

English is the national language of instruction and examination for the ICSE. Only regularly enrolled pupils from ICSE-affiliated schools and colleges are permitted to take this test. Any other students will not be permitted to do the same.

Subjects in ICSE

Students can divide the subjects offered by ICSE into three categories: 

  • Compulsory subjects: The compulsory subjects include English, History, Civics, Geography and Indian Languages like Hindi, Sanskrit etc. 
  • Elective subjects: Students can select any two subjects from the list of given

Students need to note that 20% weightage is for internal assessment in Category 1 and Category 2 and 50% weightage is there in Category 3.
