What is the full form of GSI?

The full form of GSI is the Geological Survey of India. It is an Indian government organisation that conducts geological surveys and investigations. It is the second-oldest survey in the nation and is a department of the Ministry of Mines.

1851 saw the founding of GSI. It has six regional offices spread across Jaipur, Lucknow, Nagpur, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Shillong, and its headquarters is in Kolkata, West Bengal. The Union Cabinet appointed an HPC (High Powered Committee) to analyse the Geological Survey of India’s operations and determine its capacity to address expanding concerns while considering the organization’s technical and human resources.
