What is the full form of CPT?

The full form of CPT is Common Proficiency Test. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India administers an entry-level exam for admission to the Charted Accountancy course. It is also known as CA-CPT. It is a required examination to become a member of the ICAI (Institute of Charted Accountants of India).

Eligibility Requirements for CPT

• A candidate who has passed the 10th standard may enrol in the Institute of Charted Accountants of India.
• However, in order to take the CPT test, the candidate must have completed at least the 12th level or equivalent studies at a recognised university.
• The CA CPT registration fee and tuition expenses are provided along with the completed application form.
• The application form costs 600 rupees and may be downloaded from the website www.icai.org. It is a government website.

• CPT is often conducted in June and December. Commerce graduates, as well as other graduates and post-graduates, are exempt from the CPT.
