The position is held by a senior doctor who serves as a consultant and directs and supervises medical specialists, groups of doctors, and research into public health issues.
A CMO was ranked first in the medical staff system for government hospitals. The CMO designation has many different definitions in different countries. It is known as Surgeon General in the United States and Chief Public Health Officer in Canada. Primary Duties of CMO
- The CMO oversees day-to-day operations, such as hospital administration and management, patient safety, and so on.
- The CMO will conduct a surprise inspection of clinics and hospitals.
- CMO acts as a liaison between physicians or doctors and other hospital personnel.
- The CMO is also in charge of the hospital’s vacant posts, training programmes, and expenditures.
