What is the full form of CID?

The full form of CID is Crime Investigation Department. CID is a component of the Indian State Police’s crime investigation arm. It is a division of the police force, and the ADG is in charge of it (Additional Police Director General). Pune is home to the CID headquarters, and the Indian government and DGP refer specific cases to the government for handling (Director General of Police). The British government created CID in 1902 in response to the Polic Commission to uphold social order. Depending on the position, the department’s police officers come in various grades and wear ordinary clothing. The CID or Detectives are known as those officers.

This Police Force was divided into CID, Crime Branch CID (CB-CID) divisions, and special units in 1929. The Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) is in charge of the Crime Branch CID, a special CID division under the direction of the IGP (Inspector-General of Police). This section investigates significant offences such as murder, forgery, riot, counterfeiting, and cases referred by the state’s High Court or local government.
