The full form of AAI is the Airport Authority of India. The Ministry of Civil Aviation oversees its operations. The civil aviation network in India is being designed, planned, maintained, and upgraded. The AAI is responsible for various tasks and manages 126 airports, 11 customs airports, 11 international airports, 89 domestic airports, and 26 civilian enclaves on military aircraft.
- AAI operates and is responsible for the flight calibration of navigational equipment for the Indian Air Force, Indian Coast Guard, Indian Navy, and various private airfields around the country.
- The technology demonstration framework’s initial phase was finished in February 2008.
- The Indian government established the International Airports Authority of India (IAAI) in 1972.
- The Airport Authority of India was established in April 1995 when an Act of Parliament merged the IAAI with the NAA (National Airports Authority).
