The full form of FHR is Fetal Heart Rate. FHR is the heart rate of a baby inside the womb, as the name implies. An FHR is like meeting your baby for the first time. It is a life-changing experience for a mother since the little heartbeat can reveal a lot about the little one who is about to arrive. The heart rate of a healthy foetus ranges between 110 and 160 beats per minute. However, the baby’s heart rate can sometimes reach 170 beats per minute.

FHR monitors and measures a baby’s heart rate in the womb. It is easier to care for the baby’s health till the due date with the assistance of FHR. For the rest of your pregnancy, your doctor will check your baby’s heartbeat every month or every few weeks.
What are the Methods of FHR?
External Fetal Heart Monitoring: This procedure involves placing a device over the mother’s tummy to listen to the baby’s heartbeat. This device is used to monitor the foetal heartbeat during the parental visit. This equipment is also utilised during labour to ensure the health of the infant.
Internal Fetal Heart Monitoring: This approach is also used by FHR during labour. At the time of labour, a transducer is placed on the fetus’s scalp. The doctor will get a better reading with this procedure because there are no uneven measurements caused by a lack of movement. However, because the uterus is attached to the monitor, this procedure is only applicable when the cervix is open.
