- MPEG-1 Edition
- MPEG-2 Edition
- MPEG-3 Edition
- MPEG-4 Edition
- MPEG-7 Edition
- MPEG-21 Edition, etc.
MPEG’s Working Principles
The information is divided into tiny bits and compressed using the MPEG technique before being decompressed and then encoded using the Discrete Cosine Transform. The great compression rate of MPEG is due to the fact that it only stores the changes made to the structures and discards the entire frame. The operation of MPEG is:
- Audio storage in Compact Disk(CD).
- Videos are stored in digital videotapes.

MPEG Advantages
- The original data is duplicated in very acceptable quality by MPEG documents.
- The MPEG document application is cross-platform and works with many other internet browsers.
Limitations of MPEG
- Lower ratio of compression.
- The file sizes play a bigger role.
- Large file size causes a longer loading time.
