  • It was initially marketed under the name SPSS. In 1983, SPSS released version 10 (SPSS – X), which allowed data sets to contain different types of records.
  • Linux, Mac, and Windows are all capable of running version 16.0 and later. On July 28, 2009, SPSS announced that IBM was buying it.
  • Conflicting ownership of the name forced the corporation to change its name to PASW (Predictive Analytics Software).
  • In January 2010, it changed to SPSS, an IBM subsidiary. IBM received complete ownership on October 1, 2010.
