The full form of OTG is On-The-Go. OTG is a Universal Serial Bus (USB) standard that enables the connection of USB devices. USB OTG devices can connect without a computer connection.
A USB OTG link can connect your smartphone or tablet to various devices. This link features a USB-A port on one side and a connector for your phone on the other. Your phone will be the primary device if you attach an OTG link. If you bridge a phone to a computer via a standard USB connection, your computer will be the primary device, and your phone will be the capacity device.

OTG Rules
Two device responsibilities are described by USB OTG.
- OTG A and OTG B devices are displayed, indicating which side is the first host and which supplies the connection power.
- A power supply is provided by OTG A-device, while OTG B-device provides power consumption.
- The A-device is a USB host in the default connection configuration, and the B-device is a USB peripheral.
- Later, either RSP or HNP can be used to switch between the host and peripheral modes. OTG controllers are also known as Dual-Role controllers rather than OTG controllers because each fulfils both tasks.
Using OTG
- A USB OTG link can connect your phone or tablet to a USB drive, mouse, console, hard plate, webcam, or any other mobile device.
- OTG links come in handy when switching between applications on different mobile devices or generating a report using a console on your computer.
- There are also OTG centre points where you can connect your phone using devices. For instance, you might use your tablet, a mouse, and a console.
