Qualifications for Undergraduate Level


Basic Education: Grade 12 in the pertinent subject


English Proficiency Score: Students who want to enrol in undergraduate programmes can either submit a minimum score on the English Language Proficiency Test to the institution, or they can take an additional English proficiency test created by Illinois Tech. To meet these criteria, you must obtain the following scores:

  • A minimum score of 110 on the Duolingo English Test (DET)
  • Minimum TOEFL score of 90
  • IELTS: Minimum score of 6.5
  • PTE Academic: 53 is the minimum score


SAT or ACT standardised exam score:

By submitting a minimum score on one of the following standardised tests, the English proficiency score requirement may be waived:

  • SAT: Critical reading part minimum score of 550 and reading section minimum score of 30
  • English part of the ACT requires a minimum score of 25



Requirements for Graduate Level Eligibility


Basic Education: Bachelor's degree with at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4-point scale and one of the following qualifications:

  • For engineers or medical students, a four-year undergraduate degree in a relevant field is required
  • Any three-year undergraduate degree from an Indian university with a NAAC Grade A


The score for English Proficiency: One of the following

  • IELTS: 5.5 bands or more
  • DET: 95–109 minimum score
  • Minimum TOEFL score of 70


GRE and GMAT test scores are standardised.

  • GMAT: 500 to 650 depending on the prerequisites
  • GRE scores range from 298 to 316 depending on the course.

Undergraduate Applicants


Undergraduate applicants at Illinois Tech must submit their applications through the US Common Application. To establish a new account, go to and follow the step-by-step instructions provided.


Graduate Applicants


The graduate applicants must go to CommunitiesSelfReg and use the following strategy:


Step 1: Register on the portal to make a new account.

Step 2: Despite being a graduate portal, students must provide the name of the institution where they received their Class/Grade 12 diploma.

Step 3: After a student successfully signs up, the university sends them a confirmation email.

Step 4: To activate their account, students must open their email and click the verification link.

Step 5: Students will arrive at the next page after clicking the link.

Step 6: Students must replace the default password on this page with one that is both secure and simple to remember.

Step 7: As previously mentioned, click on "Change Password" to go to the following screen and start the application.

Step 8: Select the relevant option.

Step 9: Subsequently, enter the necessary information, including:

  • Education level
  • Country name and citizenship status
  • Sort of student (on-campus)
  • Both the title of the degree and the academic major
  • Click "Start Application" after choosing the programme start term
