Will PTE cause any problems for my visa application?

No, PTE Academic will not cause problems for your Canadian study permit application, including under the Student Direct Stream (SDS), as it is accepted for visa purposes.

However, you must also ensure your chosen Canadian university accepts PTE Academic scores for admission - most do, but some have specific requirements.

Note: PTE Core is for immigration (like permanent residency) and is not valid for study permit applications.
