Why location matters in Switzerland
- Switzerland has four language regions: German, French, Italian and Romansh, and city, language and cost of living all change by region.
- Zurich is Switzerland's financial capital and trains a large share of the country's top talent.
- Other university cities include Geneva, Lausanne, Basel, Bern, St. Gallen and Fribourg, each with its own subject strengths.
My Advice
Pick the university by subject first, then check the city, language and cost of living. Look up the current ranking on the ranking body's own website, since positions change each year.
