Which English proficiency test is preferable for admission to US universities: IELTS or TOEFL?

TOEFL is generally more preferred by U.S. universities, especially among top-tier institutions. A survey found that 9 out of 10 U.S. admissions officers who accept both tests prefer TOEFL scores.

However, many U.S. universities also accept IELTS scores. If you are more comfortable with IELTS, you can use it, but some universities may still prefer TOEFL.
