Which country should I choose for my studies: USA or UK for a Master's?
Choose the USA if you want a broader curriculum, more time for internships, and longer post-study work options, especially in STEM fields. Choose the UK if you prefer a shorter, more focused program with lower total costs and a quicker entry into the workforce.
- USA: Master's programs are typically 2 years. Post-study work (OPT) is up to 1 year, or 3 years for STEM degrees. Higher living and tuition costs, but longer time to gain US work experience.
- UK: Most master's programs last 1 year. Post-study work visa is currently 2 years, reducing to 18 months from January 2027. Lower total cost and faster return to the job market.
