An 88% score with no backlogs is strong enough to get you into almost any program in either country, which means the real decision here isn't about clearing an admissions bar, it's about which regulatory system you're willing to train inside for the rest of your clinical career.

Dubai Versus Malaysia for a Licensed Clinical Psychology Track

FactorDubai (UAE)Malaysia
RegulatorDubai Health Authority or Ministry of Health and PreventionMalaysian Allied Health Professions Council and Malaysian Society of Clinical Psychology
Named programsBranch campuses such as American University in Dubai, University of Wollongong DubaiIMU University, UCSI University, Universiti Sains Malaysia
Practicum hoursSupervised placement hours plus post-qualification experience required for licensureOften exceeding 1,000 supervised hours
Relative costHigherMore cost-effective for international students

Why Practicum Hours Matter More Than the Specialisation Name

A theoretical MSc in Psychology without an embedded clinical internship will not qualify you to register as a clinical psychologist in either country, regardless of how advanced the coursework sounds. Prioritise programs with a built-in practicum of 600 to 1,200 hours or more, since that requirement, not the specialisation title, is what actually determines whether you can practise afterward.

My Advice

In my experience, applicants with strong marks like yours focus too much energy on getting admitted and not enough on verifying the licensure pathway after graduation. Before you commit to either country, write directly to the regulator, DHA or MOHAP for Dubai, MAHPC or MSCP for Malaysia, and confirm exactly what your target program's practicum and post-qualification hours will count toward.
