Electrical Engineering and Electronics and Communication are widely rated the toughest B.Tech branches. They combine abstract electromagnetic theory, heavy mathematics and demanding labs. Chemical, Mechanical and Aerospace follow closely, while Computer Science, though intense, is generally seen as more tangible and logical.
Difficulty is subjective, but there is a strong consensus among engineering students and faculty about which branches demand the most. My Advice
Do not pick a branch just because it is reputed to be the hardest, because the toughest course for you is the one that clashes with how your mind works. If you love visualising invisible systems and heavy maths, EE will feel rewarding rather than punishing. If you prefer building things you can run and test, CSE or Mechanical may suit you far better and keep your motivation high through four demanding years.
