What Master's programs, specifically MBA or specialized MSc degrees in International Business, Finance, or Accounting & Analytics, would be most suitable for my career advancement given my BCom degree, postgraduate qualification, and over 22 years of professional experience?
At this stage of your career, the degree's job isn't to teach you accounting or finance basics again, it's to buy you a peer group, a global network and a credential that reads as senior leadership, which is exactly what a conventional two-year MSc built for 25-year-olds generally can't deliver.
Programme Type Against Your Profile
| Programme type | Fit for 22+ years' experience | Best if your goal is |
|---|---|---|
| INSEAD Global Executive MBA | Very strong | Global senior leadership, cross-border roles |
| IIM Ahmedabad MBA-PGPX / IIM Calcutta MBAEx | Very strong | Indian executive leadership, no upper age limit |
| Specialized MSc, Finance or Accounting and Analytics | Moderate | A deliberate technical pivot, such as CFO-track finance transformation |
Two Indian Options Worth Knowing
- IIM Ahmedabad MBA-PGPX: explicitly states no upper age limit and requires at least four years of full-time post-graduation experience, plus GMAT or GRE.
- IIM Calcutta MBAEx: a one-year full-time residential MBA for executives with at least five years of experience, also with no upper age limit.
- IIM Indore EPGP and IIM Jammu Executive MBA: further one-year and blended formats for experienced professionals, worth comparing on cost, duration and whether you can leave full-time employment.
What Your Postgraduate Qualification Changes
Your answer shifts depending on exactly what that postgraduate qualification is. A CA, CMA or MCom typically strengthens the case for an Executive MBA, since you already have the technical accounting depth and now need the leadership and strategy layer; a prior MBA or PGDM makes a second general MBA far less useful, and points you toward a narrower, genuinely new specialization instead.

My Advice
I'd only steer you toward a specialized MSc in Finance or Accounting and Analytics if you can name a specific technical gap, like financial analytics or FP&A leadership, that your 22 years hasn't already covered. Otherwise, at your seniority, an Executive MBA's network and strategic-leadership content will do more for your next role than another finance credential.
