Income Tax Returns (ITRs) are not mandatory for your German student visa application. The main requirement is to show proof of sufficient financial resources - currently €11,904/year (or €992/month) - to cover your living expenses.

You can demonstrate this through:
- Blocked Account (Sperrkonto)
- Parental income documents
- Sponsor declaration
- Scholarship award letter

ITRs may be helpful if you are self-employed or have complex financial situations, but they are not required for most student visa applications. Focus on providing the accepted proof of funds for your application.
